September 21, 2012 – Karen Corrigan Receives Award for Excellence from The Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development.
Karen Corrigan, founder and chief executive officer of Corrigan Partners received the 2012 Award for Individual Professional Excellence, the highest honor the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Marketing Development (SHSMD) of the American Hospital Association, can bestow on one of its members. The award was presented today in Philadelphia at the Society’s annual convention.
Corrigan’s “ability to seize on trends before they become evident to others” and “to quickly master and respond to changing forces in the brand and marketing discipline” were lauded as keys to her success by SHSMD president-elect Holli Salls, who presented the award.
Over the course of her career, Karen has worked as a health system executive, chief strategy officer, chief marketing executive and entrepreneur. She has worked for three Virginia-based health systems. From 1981 to 1998, she work at Sentara Healthcare and held the position of vice president for system development from 1992 to 1998. In 1998, she founded and served as CEO of The Strategy Group (TSG), a strategic planning consultancy, and in 2011 launched Corrigan Partners, which provides strategic counsel on brand, marketing and digital strategies.
In addition, Corrigan is an active writer, having written, coauthored or contributed to three books on healthcare marketing and has published countless articles on healthcare strategy, marketing, branding, innovation and leadership. She also presents on the national stage several times each year.
Corrigan has held leadership positions in a variety of professional organizations at the state and national levels, including the Virginia Society for Healthcare Marketing & Public Relations, the Alliance for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing, and SHSMD.

Corrigan Partners will be playing a role in the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Marketing Development (SHSMD) Annual Conference: Connections 2012, being held this month in Philadelphia.
September 19th, healthcare marketers from around the country will come together in Philadelphia for the SHSMD conference where members of Corrigan Partners will participate as presenters, round-table discussion leaders and sponsors of the SIG Sunrise Breakfast.
Wednesday, September 19th, Karen Corrigan will be leading a session entitled “Where Do We Go From Here? Changing Markets to Marketeers” discussing the changing nature of competition in the healthcare field.
Thursday, three members from Corrigan Partners will each lead round-table discussions as part of the Coffey Talk Round-Table Luncheon.

April 24, 2012 – Carla Bryant and Kari Foster lead social media training
Carla Bryant and Kari Foster lead a class called “Facebook, Blogging and Twitter, Oh My!” for the Tidewater Community College Academy for Nonprofit Excellence in April. This day-long class met in the Academy’s computer lab at their Suffolk, Virginia campus.
The assembled group included large and small nonprofits from throughout Hampton Roads who learned about how to use social media to best meet their marketing needs and reach their specific audiences. Discussion topics included the strategy of integrating digital media into a traditional marketing plan, building and maintaining online relationships, and the nuts and bolts of how to use the different platforms.
As a bonus, Corrigan Partners provided a “lunch & learn” to the members on Pinterest and how to use this new social media darling.

Amanda offers healthcare clients more than ten years of experience in the management and operation of physician group practices. She is experienced in medical group practice building, operations, governance, strategic planning and marketing, and has also had direct responsibility for financial operations, human resources, information technology management and managed care. December 16, 2011 – Dee Dee Becker Joins Corrigan Partners
Dee Dee Becker of Virginia Beach, VA has joined Corrigan Partners. She offers a wealth of marketing, communications and PR experience which began in the non-profit sector more than twenty years ago with the American Diabetes Association and later, with Sentara Healthcare, a Virginia-based health system. In 1998, she founded Becker Communications and worked with numerous clients within the non-profit, entertainment, transportation, education, legal and medical sectors, including The New York Times Company, Virginia Port Authority, and ESPN.

December 8, 2011 – Lisa Burris Joins Corrigan Partners
Lisa Burris of Virginia Beach, Virginia recently joined Corrigan Partners. With more than 20 years of experience in strategic marketing, brand development, project management, corporate communications, public relations, and most recently social media, Lisa brings creative solutions and strategic ideas customized to meet client needs.
For 16 years, Lisa was an integral part of the corporate marketing and communications team within Sentara Healthcare where she led merger and acquisition communication initiatives, served as brand manager and provided strategic marketing leadership with existing and new products. In addition, Lisa has worked within a variety of non-healthcare industries through her position with the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, and working in account service with two east coast advertising agencies.

F. Brian Whitman of Indianapolis, Indiana has joined Corrigan Partners LLC as a lead consultant for the firm’s brand and integrated marketing practice. Brian’s experience in the health industry and expertise in integrated marketing management bring creative, results-oriented business and brand building solutions tothe firm’s health industry clients. Over the course of his career, he has been responsible for all aspects of brand and marketing management, including brand strategy, marketing planning, new product launches, partnership development, marketing promotions, corporate communications, crisis management and merger communications.
Prior to joining Corrigan Partners, Brian served as vice president for Indiana University Health Bloomington, with responsibility for marketing, community relations, business development, physician outreach, CRM/call center, service excellence and community health. There he served as IU Health’s regional branding officer. He previously worked at Clarian Health Partners, Inc., where he led service-line marketing for cardiovascular and cancer. Katie Adams has joined Corrigan Partners as a consultant supporting web and social media marketing, business-generated content, and brand-building communications. Adams is a writer, editor and marketing/public relations professional with 19 years of experience. Her expertise is in collaborating with clients to develop industry-leading brands by producing effective, business-building content and marketing communications materials for traditional, web and social media platforms. She has produced award-winning work for health systems, hospitals, hospices, foundations, technology firms and businesses serving the health industry, and for numerous clients in the securities and financial markets, electric power utilities, professional service firms and not-for profit agencies. Previously, she served as director of media relations at Fannie Mae (FNM/NYSE). In that position she oversaw a staff of 14 public and media relations professionals and was responsible for implementing a nationwide corporate communications plan.
